About this project
Chopper is a small arcade-like side scrolling helicopter shooting game. It was developed in 2003 by Dennington Games, using Game Maker 4 as the engine. The original version was compatible with computers running Windows 95 or later, and was published on a demo disc by Farsight Productions.
In the game, the player controls a small armed green helicopter, and must use it to reach and destroy a stealth carrier owned by the Ginever Institution of Terrorism (GIT). Prior to reaching the stealth carrier, a variety of other aircraft appear which must be shot down or avoided. Subsequent levels are reached after destroying various numbers of ships.
Chopper was developed while Rob and Paul were still in the early years of high school, many years before the Ginever website or development studio were founded, and was largely made for fun. As a result, the production value of this game is not particularly high. It nevertheless remains notable as the first completed video game ever made by the Dennington brothers.
