Privacy Policy

This web service is operated by Ruby-Jane Dennington (Theleruby) on behalf of Ginever Entertainment for the purposes of advancing, promoting and managing the Ginever brand and any services which are related to it. While you are using this service, you may submit or generate some personal data. This privacy policy covers what data may be collected and what we will do with that data in the event of its collection.

Data collected from all visitors

We may collect standard internet logging such as user agent, IP address, web pages visited, links followed, etc. This information is received and processed by the servers automatically whenever you use the service.

We may use this information for analytical purposes, e.g. to determine user behaviour patterns. We may also use it to enforce content filtering restrictions, e.g. by using your IP address to prohibit your access to some or all of the services. It is possible that this information may be personally identifiable to you if you are logged in to your GineverAccount at the time of data collection and/or if you have used the same IP address to log in at a previous time.

This website has some embedded content provided by third parties such as Google. Those parties may also receive the same standard internet logging data.

Data collected from registered users

If you wish to use the vast majority of Ginever Entertainment online services, you will be required to register a GineverAccount. Once created, accounts cannot be removed entirely, because public contributions must be associated with their author.

During registration, you will be required to choose a username and password, as well as submitting your e-mail address, real name and country of residence. Your username is permanent, and will be displayed to the public against any contributions you make to the service. Your password and e-mail address will remain private and can be changed at any time. Your country of residence is visible to the public, but may be changed at any time. The visibility of your real name to the public is up to you, and you may change it at any time, or blank it entirely if you so choose.

You may also choose to store additional information against your account, such as profile photo, gender, location, 'About Me' information, two-factor authentication codes, etc. You may add, change or remove this information at any time from the control panel. If the information is currently stored against your account, it may be displayed to the public when they view your account profile.

Whenever you make any contributions to the service, such as forum posts, entries on the wiki, bugs submitted to the bug tracker, translations for Ginever projects, high scores made in one of our games, etc, a permanent public record will be saved. This record includes every piece of content added, removed, or altered by you, and will be permanently associated with your account. Some automatic processing may happen on this data for the purposes of display or analysis (e.g. to display that you are the person who submitted the most contributions in a single day, the person who won the most games, etc).

Whenever you make any changes to the properties of your account, it may be logged for administrative purposes.

You may also transmit personal information to us for billing and shipping purposes, such as billing address, shipping address and credit card information. You will only be required to transmit this information to us if you wish to make purchases from the website. In the event that you transmit this information to us, it may be passed on to a third party service explicitly for payment processing purposes only (which may be PayPal, Stripe, Apple, Google, Microsoft or Sony, depending on the payment method). If you submit credit card information, it may be stored by the payment processor, but will not be stored directly by us. Your real name and addresses will also be stored against your order in our database so that we may investigate your order if there are any problems relating to it in future.

Collection of backups

Any data stored on our servers may be duplicated for the purposes of creating an on-site or off-site backup. In the event that data recovery is required, this data may be recovered and restored back to our servers.

Cookies, JavaScript and local storage

We may use cookies, JavaScript and local storage in order to provide persistent user sessions and some other site features (e.g. local storage may be used to save what you are typing into text boxes, so that in the event of the submission of content failing, you do not have to type it all again). By using this service you agree that we may store cookies and local storage data on your system in order to support these features.

Usage of e-mail addresses

If you register an account your e-mail address will be collected. This e-mail address will be used for the sole purpose of account administration (e.g. to e-mail you password resets, to notify you of security breaches, etc) and to notify you of anything which you have selected to be notified about in the notification control panel (e.g. people liking your contributions). Your e-mail address will NOT be used for marketing purposes or newsletters in any way.

Links to third party services

Some pages may provide links to third party services. Those services are not governed by this policy.

Sharing of data

At the moment Ginever Entertainment is an unincorporated association, and thus is not incorporated. In the event that the business is incorporated in the future, any data which is collected by Theleruby may be shared with the incorporated business.

The information may also be shared with other members of the Ginever Entertainment association who are part of the administrative staff, in order to help Theleruby to operate the service. This arrangement is in lieu of hiring those people as employees of the business. If this information is shared with those members of administrative staff, they will be obligated to honour this privacy policy when viewing or processing the data.

Collected data is not shared with any third party unless it is explicitly mentioned in this policy.

Any complaints regarding the privacy policy may be sent to legal@ginever.net and your complaint will be dealt with promptly.

If you prefer snail mail and are OK with a more delayed response, complaints may also be sent to the following address:
