Annual General Meeting 2012
Wednesday 16 May 2012, 07:05:30 AM
Ginever Alliance - Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2012
If you have Facebook please also look at the Facebook event and mark your availability there: http://www.facebook....34726699930654/
The official Ginever Alliance Annual General Meeting for 2012 will be held on Wednesday 27 June 2012 at 6.00 PM UTC. You should aim to arrive for 5.45 PM UTC at the latest and we are likely to start the meeting itself by 6.15 PM UTC.
This is a meeting held once per year, each June, where we decide how to move forward over the next 12 months. It's your chance to say:
- How we suck
- How we can improve
- What you like and dislike
- What you want out of the Alliance in the future
If you care about the services run by the Ginever Alliance (such as Asterion Minecraft, the Mumble server, the Ginever Clan, the Mercurial repositories, etc) or you are planning on using our services in the near future, then you should really consider attending the AGM.
I have kindly converted the start time into all of the major time zones, for those of you who are too lazy to work it out yourself:
- Pacific Time (PDT - West Coast): 11.00 AM
- Mountain Time (MDT): 12.00 PM (Noon / Mid-day)
- Central Time (CDT): 1.00 PM
- Eastern Time (EDT - East Coast): 2.00 PM
- Coordinated Universal Time (UTC): 6.00 PM
- United Kingdom - British Summer Time (BST): 7.00 PM
- Central European Summer Time (CEST): 8.00 PM
We are aiming for the AGM to last for around 90 minutes, although it may be shorter or longer depending on who turns up and what gets discussed.
HOW TO ATTEND
You can attend via one of three methods:
--- IN PERSON ---
There are two meeting points where you can attend in person. The meeting is kindly being hosted at these locations by members of the Ginever Alliance staff. They are as follows.
Tinytimrob's house --
60 Halesworth Road, Pendeford, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, WV9 5PJ
Kian93's house --
8612 Hume Ct, Elk Grove, California, United States of America, CA 95624
IF YOU CHOOSE TO ATTEND IN PERSON please notify Tinytimrob or Kian93 (whoever is relevant) that you plan to attend BEFORE turning up, so we don't go "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?" when you get there.
--- VIA SKYPE ---
There are a total of 10 slots available for people who wish to attend via Skype. Three of these will be in use: one for the relay to Tinytimrob's house, one for the relay to Kian's house, and one for the relay to Mumble. The seven remaining slots are reserved for other members of Ginever Alliance staff at the present time, but may be made available to others if needed. If you want to attend via Skype, you should discuss this with Tinytimrob.
--- OVER MUMBLE VOICE CHAT ---
Our Mumble voice chat server is mumble.ginever.net. If you aim to attend via Mumble, you don't have to notify anyone, although Tinytimrob appreciates it if you do let him know you will attend the meeting.
You are required to have TESTED that Mumble is 100% working BEFORE the meeting starts.
The Skype conference, the Mumble channel and the real-life meetings will be linked together using a relay system on the day.
THE AGENDA
We are going to draw up an agenda in order to ensure that everything relevant is discussed and that everyone has a fair say. Therefore, if you want anything specific discussed, please tell Tinytimrob PRIOR to the meeting, so that it can be added to the agenda.
MINUTES
We intend to take minutes of this meeting (we will keep a written record of anything important which is mentioned) so that we can refer to them later. It is likely that we will make these publicly available.
DONATIONS
We would like to kindly ask everyone attending a meeting in person to contribute a small amount of money towards the service (preferably a few dollars or pounds) if possible. The Ginever Alliance is expensive to run and there is currently a shortage of funding. Your contributions are extremely valuable and desperately needed.
If 20 people turned up and everyone donated $5, that's $100 we have raised to put towards the operating costs for the year.
If you choose to donate money, it WILL contribute to nag-free time and/or Asterion donation rewards, assuming you are eligible.
IF YOU CAN'T ATTEND
If you are unable to attend for whatever reason, you should pass on your comments and suggestions to a senior member of staff (Tinytimrob, Paulicus25, Medessec, Jesan, IcecreaPie, MrTeddi, MDC1234, or TheBrapman) and they will try and ensure it is brought up at the meeting. It is, of course, preferable that you actually attend in person, as the staff are unlikely to be able to convey your exact thoughts on the matter as precisely as you.

Annual General Meeting
Saturday 12 May 2012, 09:59:30 PM
Due to the expanding size of the Ginever Alliance, I have decided to hold an Annual General Meeting this year. This will primarily serve as a discussion point where we can, as a community, agree on the direction we are going to take over the course of the next 12 months. You will also be free to ask any questions, give your opinions on key topics, etc.
I would like to hold this AGM in June unless anyone has any objections. I am going to attempt to organise a date soon with the intention of finding a date that all the key members of the Alliance can attend.
The current plan is to hold this as an audio conference done via our Mumble server, since there are likely to be more than 10 people in attendance.
Depending on how successful and useful this AGM turns out to be, I may choose to make this a BGM (Biannual General Meeting) instead; we will see.
Further information about this meeting will be available soon.

The Ginever Alliance Presents... THE AWARDS!
For a bit of fun, this year I'm proposing we have a series of 'awards' where we vote for the best or worst companies/products in technology. You will be able to vote for things such as "Lousiest British Broadband Provider", "Most Addictive Computer Game of 2012", etc.
Coming soon!
