OK den, so its just general purpose funky technology, just post a link or write a little about a piece of technology you have found online or whatever that is in some way astonishing or just really cool, i will start with this one.

(weapons can be included but should not be the sole content of this topic.)

Handheld projectors.

http://en.wikipedia....dheld_projector

Basically, devices that look like digital cameras or camcorders, but can project an image, or moving video onto a wall (and sometimes also having the functionality of a camera/camcorder)

Right now, the technology's crap as all handheld projectors show an image at an absurdly low resolution(176x144, 320x240) or the quality is just really bad. But it's getting much better as they've started making LED projectors 'n stuff.

Thinkpads are the epiphany of what has become the Ultra-portable. The Ultra-portable is dying out now though due to advancements with the netbook and the tablet computer. On that topic, IBM Thinkpad X41: http://www.laptopclo...x41_tablet8.jpg
First ever hybrid laptop/tablet computer with a touchscreen.

Any general feature you see on a laptop was first seen on a Thinkpad. Yes, the nipple was annoying as hell, but Trackpads didn't come until the Thinkpad T/R series, which was some of the first laptops to have a Trackpad btw. They featured both a trackpad and nipple.

I think the only Thinkpad now that represents Thinkpads best is the W-series(W500, W700) but, like the Thinkpads of the early 2000s. they are also $2000-3000. :(

We just need to make it, like, a super epic laser that burns right through a human body upon contact.

But in all seriousness, I suppose if you pointed that thing at a plane with super-precision, a fighter-jet in particular, you might cause some problems and, potentially, down the plane.

But I doubt this would happen with any modern jet fighter.

Yeah. We got a long way to go.

have you heard (excuse the pun.) about this supposed hypersonic aircraft the USAF have been testing flying from area 51? more of a theory than technology, however it is both funky, and tech so it is pertinent to list it here. (but I cant find the link so you must wait, instead marvel at 1960s cold war techno awesomeness.)

The X51 seems pretty good, except it's only big enough at the moment to carry a crew of mice. I hope it goes through though.

Or... we can say the Iranians are very good with nails and duct tape.

How would you go about refueling...?

I'm just picturing a drunk walking up to his car, about to start it, but realizes he's low on fuel... so he walks to the gas cap, opens it, and smashes his beer bottle into it, shattering it, but hey. Refueling his car!

Dazzle "camoflauge"=Hey! Look! I'm over here!

Brilliant idea for old naval use of that era-not good for modern application.

And indeed Britian WWII tanks. Except for that one. That I forget. But all I know is that it was really bad.

Sadly throughout the second world war Britain only had crap tanks such as the churchill, cromwell, and other worthless junk. This is why for some reason we gave up for a while and bought shermans which were less crap but still crap. Godknows why we didnt just buy t-34s, that was when we repped the Soviets still.

You couldn't afford their fuel. That's why you didn't them. And stalin wasn't selling. And there was a Germany between you two.

No - the fuel the Russian's used. You had zero diesel capacity if I remember correctly. Plus - Germany. That's the bigger reason.

Yes, I just verfied on a tank forum. You guys used gasoline at the cost of 1 gallon per 7 miles. You did not use diesel due to the lack of infrastructure to separate it from kerosene that was used everywhere else. Your tanks ran on petrol; some ran on diesel you bought off the russians or the americans.
